¬ On August 13th, 1996, Dutroux, Martin, and Leliévre were arrested
¬ The trial began on March 1st, 2004, 7 1/2 years after the initial arrest.
¬ Dutroux was tried for murders of An & Eefje, which he denied. Along with this, he was charged with auto theft, abduction, attempted murder, attempted abduction, molestation, and 3 unrelated rapes of women from Slovakia.
¬ Martian and Leliére were charged as accomplices.
¬ Throughout the trial, Dutroux insisted he was part of a much larger, Europe wide pedophile ring, which included police officers, doctors, and even high-official Belgian politicians.
¬ After 3 months on trial, on June 17th, 2004, Dutroux, Martin, and Leliévre were found guilty.
